The city of Adoni is a business town as well as a municipality which is located in the Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the southern part of India. The town of Adoni is located at a distance of 225 kilometers from Hyderabad and 494 kilometers from Chennai by rail. The city of Adoni has a population of about 164,000 till 2005. Adoni was once a stronghold of the medieval Vijayanagar Empire. At present the town has a considerable textile industry.
